Connecting Borders (Fall Project Week, 2019)

The Economy and COVID-19 (American Studies, 2020)

The purpose of this project was to hear more about organizations who support migrants and refugees and the work they do as well as the stories and experiences of immigrants. Through creating a podcast on these interviews, my goal was to make the public more aware of current issues in the world and their relation to our local communities, while getting a deeper understanding of these issues and topics.

In this project, I used communication, research, writing, and analytical skills through interviewing subjects, creating questions based on researched knowledge and putting together a podcast incorporating my own thoughts and interpretations as well.

Listen to my podcast with volunteer, Jeff Reinhardt for the Tuscon, AZ based organization, No More Deaths, here.

In this project, I took the time to talk with various economists and those who have been financially affected by the Covid-19 Pandemic to get a better understanding of the situation. In this podcast, I dive into what we had already seen in April 2020 and how the pandemic's effect on our economy would effect millennials and generations ahead. I talk with interview subjects about how this recession is similar and different to the Great Depression in addition to what lessons we can take away from FDR’s New Deal and what may come out of this experience in terms of the future of our nation’s infrastructure.

My goal was to use this project as an opportunity to better understand economics and the Great Depression and imagine the possible future of America’s economy.
